The City of Peoria will host a ceremony on October 15 to dedicate part of Gift Avenue at University Street as “Via Agatucci,” honoring Agatucci’s Restaurant for its longstanding presence in the community. The event, scheduled for 11 a.m. at 2607 N. University St., recognizes the nearly century-long legacy of the family-owned business.
Agatucci’s, established in the 1920s and set to mark its 100th year in 2026, is considered a notable fixture in Peoria. The restaurant is operated by the fourth generation of the Agatucci family and holds one of the city’s original liquor licenses. It has served generations of residents, local officials, Bradley University students, and visitors.
Over time, Agatucci’s has been acknowledged for its food and atmosphere as well as its function as a gathering place for many community members. The business has contributed to Peoria's economy through tax revenue and employment opportunities.
Mayor Rita Ali and Second District Councilman Alex Carmona are expected to speak at the ceremony about Agatucci’s influence on Peoria and its historical significance. Members of Agatucci’s Fan Club will also participate by unveiling a logo commemorating the restaurant's upcoming centennial anniversary.
The event is open to the public, who are invited to join in recognizing this milestone for one of Peoria's longstanding establishments.
