Beginning at 6 a.m. on Thursday, October 16, paving work is scheduled to start on the south side of Adams Street in Peoria, Illinois. Additional paving will also take place on Hamilton Boulevard, Fulton Street, Liberty Street, and Harrison Street, depending on weather conditions.

During this period, drivers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes. The delays may also affect those entering and exiting the One Technology Plaza Parking Garage. The city advises drivers to use alternative routes while the paving work is ongoing.

According to the city, "The two far right lanes of Adams Street will be closed to ALL TRAFFIC. This closure extends from N. William Kumpf Boulevard to the Interstate 74 overpass." Periodic lane closures are also expected on Hamilton Boulevard, Fulton Street, Liberty Street, and Harrison Street between Adams Street and Washington Street, with changes throughout the day.

Parking will be restricted in several areas on Thursday. "The south side parking lane on Adams Street from N. William Kumpf Boulevard to the Interstate 74 overpass will be closed. The parking lanes along both sides of Harrison Street will be closed. NO ON-STREET PARKING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THESE AREAS. ON-STREET PARKING RESTRICTIONS WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT WHILE THE METERS ARE BAGGED. VEHICLES PARKED IN A RESTRICTED AREA WILL BE SUBJECT TO TOWING." Off-street parking options are available at the Jefferson and Twin Towers parking decks.

Lane closures and parking restrictions are expected to change daily as work progresses. Once resurfacing is completed, traffic patterns will revert to their previous state, but Adams Street will continue with one-way traffic until next year.

The city will provide daily updates through Friday, October 17, detailing the locations of ongoing milling and paving work. Drivers are reminded to exercise caution in the area, as workers and flaggers will be present to guide traffic.
