Paving work is set to continue on Adams Street and Harrison Street in Peoria starting at 6 a.m. on Friday, October 17, weather permitting. The City of Peoria has advised that drivers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes during the paving operations. The city also recommends that drivers use alternative routes to avoid the affected areas.

According to the announcement, "While paving is occurring, drivers can expect DELAYS OF UP TO 30 MINUTES. Drivers can expect delays while entering and exiting the One Technology Plaza Parking Garage." The city further stated, "THE USE OF ALTERNATIVE ROUTES IS STRONGLY ADVISED."

Lane restrictions will be in place on Friday. The two far right lanes of Adams Street will remain closed to all traffic from N. William Kumpf Boulevard to the Interstate 74 overpass. On Harrison Street, periodic lane closures will occur between Adams Street and Washington Street, with the specific closures changing throughout the day.

Parking restrictions will also be enforced. "The south side parking lane on Adams Street from N. William Kumpf Boulevard to the Interstate 74 overpass remains closed. The parking lanes along both sides of Harrison Street remain closed. NO ON-STREET PARKING WILL BE ALLOWED IN THESE AREAS. ON-STREET PARKING RESTRICTIONS WILL REMAIN IN EFFECT WHILE THE METERS ARE BAGGED," the release stated. Vehicles parked in restricted areas will be subject to towing.

Off-street parking options are available at the Jefferson and Twin Towers parking decks. Lane closures and parking restrictions are expected to change daily.

The city indicated that traffic patterns will revert to their current state once resurfacing is completed. One-way traffic on Adams Street will remain until next year. Daily updates regarding the work will continue through Friday, October 17. Drivers are urged to be cautious and watch for workers in the area. Flaggers will be present at times to guide traffic.
