Stellantis invests $600 million in Illinois plant, creating 3,300 jobs

Stellantis has announced a significant investment of over $600 million in the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Illinois. The company plans to use the funds to reopen and expand the facility, creating 3,300 new jobs and supporting two new vehicle lines for the production of the Jeep Compass and Jeep Cherokee.

Congressman Darin LaHood, who represents Illinois’ 16th district in the U.S. Congress, responded to the announcement with a statement. “Stellantis’ announcement of a more than $600 million investment to reopen and expand production at the Belvidere Assembly Plant is excellent news for Belvidere and our state,” said Rep. LaHood. “This tremendous investment will bring 3,300 new high-paying jobs to northern Illinois, providing more opportunities for Illinoisans, boosting our state’s economy, and strengthening the future of American manufacturing. I thank President Trump and his administration for their support and focus on revitalizing American manufacturing. I look forward to working with the Administration, Stellantis, and Belvidere officials throughout this process.”

LaHood has served as the representative for Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, after replacing Aaron Schock. In 2022, he won re-election against Elizabeth Haderlein, receiving 66.3% of the vote compared to Haderlein’s 33.6%.
