The first week of the Illinois General Assembly's Veto Session concluded with no significant legislative action, but several key issues remain under discussion. Lawmakers are debating proposals that address financial support for Chicago’s transit system, increased investments in green energy initiatives, and potential tax increases.

Illinois State Representative Travis Weaver commented on these ongoing discussions. "Learn more of my thoughts and concerns on the proposed legislation from this report and video from 25 News here: Chicago transit reform divides Central Illinois lawmakers in veto session," Weaver said.

Weaver, a Republican, began representing the state's 93rd House District in 2023 after succeeding Norine Hammond.

The second and final week of the Veto Session is scheduled to take place from October 28 to October 30.
