John Apilado, a registered nurse at Springfield Memorial Hospital, has been recognized as the hospital’s Colleague of the Month for October.
Apilado was nominated after assisting with an unexpected maintenance issue in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit. According to his nominator, a door on the blanket warmer had come off its hinges due to regular use. The repair required two people and occurred late in the day.
“John saw me struggling to make the necessary repairs, and he offered his assistance,” wrote the nominator. “Between the two of us, it took over an hour to re-attach the door to the hinges on the blanket warmer. I am grateful for his time and assistance. He went above and beyond in assisting me with a job that was outside the day-to-day work he performs in the PACU.”
Apilado has been employed at Springfield Memorial Hospital since 2020.
