Man charged with home invasion remains in custody pending trial

Andre D. Johnson, 41, has been charged with Home Invasion and Domestic Battery following an incident in Peoria, Illinois. Authorities allege that Johnson broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence over the weekend and assaulted her.

According to police reports, officers responded to a disturbance call on November 9, 2025, at approximately 6 a.m. in the 1200 block of N. Orange Street in the West Bluff area. A female witness told officers that a man had struck her and was inside attacking her sister.

Upon entering the house after hearing yelling, officers found Johnson on top of a woman. They intervened and detained him at the scene. The victim stated that Johnson was her ex-boyfriend and described how he removed an air conditioning unit from a window to gain entry before beginning the assault. Officers noted visible injuries on the victim.

During his detention hearing, prosecutors' request to keep Johnson in custody until trial was granted.
