Springfield Memorial Hospital has been named one of the top hospitals in Illinois by U.S. News & World Report. The publication, which annually ranks hospitals across the country, placed Springfield Memorial Hospital 21st out of 213 hospitals in the state.
The hospital was recognized for its performance in nine specialized treatment areas, including cancer treatment for leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; abdominal aortic aneurysm repair; colon cancer surgery; back surgery (spinal fusion); gynecological cancer surgery; hip and knee replacements; lung cancer surgery; and prostate cancer surgery.
“We’re pleased that U.S. News & World Report continues to recognize SMH for high-quality overall care, as well as outstanding performance in the areas where we excel,” said SMH president and CEO Jay Roszhart.
Other facilities within Springfield-based Memorial Health also received recognition from U.S. News & World Report this year. Decatur Memorial Hospital was noted for its work in treating leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma, as well as knee replacement procedures.
“This recognition is the result of hard work by teams across our organization to improve patient outcomes and ensure positive experiences for the people we serve,” said Mandy Eaton, Memorial Health president and CEO. “Our talented, caring colleagues are truly making a difference in our patients’ lives and the well-being of our communities.”
