The Taylorville Memorial Foundation announced on March 19 that applications are now open for several scholarships available to Christian County high school graduates in 2026.

These scholarships aim to support local students pursuing careers in nursing and health care. The Carolyn M. Butterfield Trust Nursing Scholarship offers one $1,000 award to a student who has graduated from a Christian County high school and is enrolled in a two- or four-year college or university. Applicants must be in or have completed their first year of a nursing program, with the application deadline set for April 17, 2026.

The Dr. George Ferry Memorial Scholarship provides two $2,500 awards to Taylorville High School seniors who have been accepted at a two- or four-year college or university with plans to major in a health care field. Applications for this scholarship can be obtained and submitted through the Taylorville High School guidance counselor by March 30, 2026.

Another opportunity is the Katie McCarty Nursing Excellence CNA Scholarship, which is awarded to deserving students who have graduated from a central Illinois high school, with priority given to Christian County residents. Applicants must be accepted into an institution’s certified nursing assistant (CNA) program. Award amounts vary and may be used for tuition, books, or fees. Applications for this scholarship are accepted throughout the year.

Further information about these scholarships, including application forms and submission instructions, can be found at memorial.health/TMF under the education assistance tab.

The Taylorville Memorial Foundation was established as a nonprofit organization in 1995 and accepts tax-deductible donations to help further the mission of Taylorville Memorial Hospital: improving lives and building stronger communities through better health.
