Temporary signs placed in the right-of-way to be moved

Spring flowers are not the only things popping up throughout the City as warmer weather returns. The City of Peoria would like to remind residents that placing all private signs – political, yard sale, temporary business, or otherwise – is prohibited in the public right-of-way.

Private signs illegally placed in the right-of-way should be removed as soon as possible.

Right-of-way areas include medians and the areas between the curb and sidewalk. Signs also cannot exceed 8 square feet on residential properties and 32 square feet on non-residential properties.

For more information or questions regarding signs in the right-of-way, contact Public Works at 309-494-8800.
