Brimfield Village Board approves beer gardern request

The Brimfield Village Board met April 4.

The Brimfield Board of Trustees serves as the legislative arm of the community.

Here are the minutes of the April 4 meeting as provided by Brimfield: 

The village of Brimfield Board of Trustees meeting was called to order on Monday April 4, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. by President Fishel. Trustees in attendance: A. Porter, Meinders, Gilles, Arbogast, and Dye, B. Porter was absent. Attorney Rick Johnson, and Clerk Johnson were also present.

The minutes of the March 7, 2016 regular meeting were presented for approval. Meinders made the motion seconded by Gilles motion carried 5 to 0.

The March 2016 Treasurer’s Report was presented for filing. Meinders made the motion seconded by Dye to approve the treasurer’s report. Motion carried 5 to 0.

The March 2016 bills were presented for payment with a motion by Dye seconded by Arbogast. Roll call vote: A. Porter-yes, Meinders-yes, Gilles-yes, Arbogast-yes, Dye-yes, motion carried 5 to 0.

Old Business - New Business-

President Fishel presented a request from Steve Burns, Burnzee’s Bar and Grill has a request for serving beer and having music in his outdoor beer garden on July 2, 2016 from 8 pm to 12 am. A. Porter made the motion to approve the request Meinders seconded motion carried 5 to 0.

Cruise-In for Diabetes-table until next month.

Accept the application from Cross Creek Farms/Kress Corporation to annex and rezone a parcel of land located along Brimfield Road north of the Kress Plant. The property has existing grain bins located on it which would cause the need for rezoning from R-1, which land is annexed in at, to Industrial. Village Attorney Bill Atkins is working with the attorney for Cross Creek Farms/Kress Corporation to get an annexation agreement that would meet the Village requirements. That finalized draft will be supplied to the Board prior to the May meeting. Dye made the motion seconded by Arbogast to accept this application and set the hearing date for the May 2, 2016 meeting. Motion approved unanimously.

Village Engineer Steve Blust has asked the Board to authorize the bidding process for street maintenance contracts. This will allow him to solicit bids for this year’s non MFT road work. Peoria County has previously been the contractor for street maintenance they are no longer doing this at the Village level.

President Fishel informed the Board that he has received a resignation from Walter Kirkland from the Planning Commission due to relocating out of state. If anyone has someone who might be interested please let President Fishel know so that an appointment may be made at the May 2016 meeting.

The property at 306 W. Illinois Street was discussed. All parties have been served by notification and once the verification of the publication is received the process will move forward.

Village Park Diamond schedule is up on the Village website and appears to be working well. No further work on the field will be done at this time due to games beginning for the season.

The Brimfield Area Men’s Club is moving forward with the building project at the park.

The new electrical aggregation rate is.0585 and will begin in June 2016.

Compliance hearings-Meinders made the motion seconded by Gilles to approve the compliance hearings and shutoffs if needed, motion carried unanimously.

Seeing no further business President Fishel asked for a motion to adjourn Dye made the motion seconded by Arbogast motion carried meeting adjourned at 7:25 pm.
