At a recent meeting, the LaSalle-Peru Township High School District No. 120 Board voted to expel suspended student.

The Mission of La Salle-Peru Township High School is to educate all students to the highest standards in a safe and challenging environment while developing within each of them the ability to think critically, solve problems, and communicate effectively.

MAY 11, 2016, 12:00 P.M.

CALL TO ORDER Mr. Tony Sparks, President called to order the Special meeting at 12:00 p.m. The meeting was held in the Board Room at LaSalle-Peru Township High School, 541 Chartres Street, LaSalle, IL. 61301.

ROLL CALL PRESENT: Mr. Tony Sparks, President, Dr. Pete Meier, Vice President (entered the meeting at 12:01 p.m.), Dr. Rose Marie Lynch, Mr. Al Cherpeske, Mrs. Cathy Renk, Mrs. Carol Alcorn and Mr. Dennis O’Keefe. ABSENT: None OTHERS PRESENT: Mr. Steven R. Wrobleski, Superintendent, and Mrs. Julie Bleck, Board Secretary.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

MOTION TO MOVE TO EXECUTIVE CLOSED SESSION MOTION by Mr. Cherpeske, seconded by Mrs. Renk to move to executive/closed session for the purpose of:

a) Student Discipline, with open session and possible action items and/or discussion to follow. Voting Aye: Mr. Cherpeske, Mrs. Renk, Dr. Meier, Mr. O’Keefe, Mrs. Alcorn, Dr. Lynch and Mr. Sparks. Voting Nay: None. The motion carried 7-0. Time 12:01 p.m.

MOTION TO RETURN TO OPEN SESSION MOTION by Dr. Meier, seconded by Mr. Cherpeske to return to open session. Voting Aye: Dr. Meier, Mr. Cherpeske, Mrs. Alcorn, Dr. Lynch, Mrs. Renk, Mr. O’Keefe and Mr. Sparks. Voting Nay: None. The motion carried 7–0. Time 12:05 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS Student Discipline #8, 2015-2016 Motion by Mr. Cherpeske, seconded by Mrs. Renk to approve of the Administration’s recommendation that student #8, upon conclusion of the suspension, will be dropped from LaSalle Regional Safe School Program and will be expelled from LaSalle-Peru Township High School District #120 for the remainder of the 20152016 school year and for the 2016-2017 school year, specifically May 11, 2016 through August 1, 2017 as presented. Voting Aye: Mr. Cherpeske, Mrs. Renk, Dr. Meier, Mr. O’Keefe, Dr. Lynch, Mrs. Alcorn and Mr. Sparks. Voting Nay: None. The motion carried 7-0.
