Peoria's public works director taking new job in North Carolina

Agreement

Peoria Director Public Works Mike Rogers will leave his city post Aug. 26 to become transportation director for the city of Raleigh, North Carolina.

“While this is a great loss to the city of Peoria, it is a huge opportunity for Michael and I couldn’t be happier for him,” Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich said. “Raleigh will be gaining a public works professional that will certainly lead that department with vision, resolve and dexterity.”

Rogers will be responsible for all areas of transportation including street maintenance, transit services, traffic engineering, parking operations and field services in the newly-created job in Raleigh.

“In a relatively short period of time, Director Rogers has elevated the professionalism and service within the Public Works Department while also transforming the environment into one where his staff has grown into new responsibilities,” Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis said. “We will miss him, but we’re very happy to see his career continue to move onward and upward.”
