Village of Peoria Heights Board of Trustees met May 20.

Here is the minutes provided by the Board:

1. The meeting was called to order at 6:35 pm.

2. Everyone stood for the Pledge to the Flag.

3. Upon roll call, the following Trustees were present: Harn, Carter, Fuller, Goett and Cumming. Trustee Reichert was absent.

4. Minutes: Trustee Carter moved to approve the minutes for May 6, 2014. Trustee Fuller seconded the motion, which was approved by a vote of 5-0. Trustee Cumming moved to approve the minutes for the Public Hearing on May 6, 2014. Trustee Carter seconded the motion, which was approved by a vote of 5-0.

5. Correspondence: Clerk Musselman read a letter from Jeanette Hillyer, President of the Peoria Heights Public Library, introducing Shawn Edwards as the new director. Mr. Edwards is replacing Marsha Westfal who is retiring on June 30th.

6. Announcements: Mayor Allen stated that here will be a New Peoria Heights Historical Society meeting on May 21, 2014 at the grade school.

7. Trustee Reports:

a. Ambulance: Trustee Fuller had nothing to report.

b. Public Works: Trustee Harn had nothing to report.

c. Administration/Personnel: Administrator Fick stated that the tower is now open.

d. Economic Development/Village Improvements: Trustee Carter had nothing to report.

e. Police: Trustee Cumming stated there will be no Neighborhood Watch meeting in May. The next meeting will be on June 30th at 6:30pm in Village Hall. Please note that the traffic signals at the trail crossing on Glen will be activated in June.

f. Building Maintenance: Trustee Goett had nothing to report.

g. Fire: Trustee Goett had nothing to report.

8. Comments: There were no comments from the audience.

9. Old Business: There was no old business to discuss.

10. New Business: Trustee Harn moved to approve Ordinance 2014-1407 to adjust the water rates to include a $5 per month infrastructure fee, which is to be bill quarterly. Trustee Carter moved to amend the ordinance that the funding from the new fee be designated to the waterworks fund. Trustee Harn seconded the amendment, which was approved by a vote of 4-1, with Trustee Fuller voting no. Trustee Harn further moved to approve the ordinance as amended. Trustee Carter seconded the motion, which was approved by a vote of 5-0. Trustee Goett moved to approve the donation of $1,000 to the Peoria Heights JFL League. Ron Foster, President of the league, gave an overview of the program and donation request. Trustee Fuller seconded the motion, which was approved by a vote of 5-0.

11. Treasurer's Report: Total balance in the Village fun is $705,542.86. Total Balance in the Waterworks fund is $703,490.91.

12. Executive Session-Personnel: Trustee Goett moved to enter into executive session to discuss personnel at 7:04 pm. Trustee Cumming seconded the motion, which was approved by a vote of 5-0.

13. Trustee Goett moved to adjourn the executive session at 8:11 pm. Trustee Carter seconded the motion which was approved by a vote o 5-0. Trustee Cumming moved to adjourn the regular session at 8:12 pm. Trustee Goett seconded the motion, which was approved by a vote of 5-0.
