City of Chillicothe Marketing and Tourism Commission met June 7.
Here is the minutes provided by the Commission:
Members Present: Dan Colwell, Lowell Bennett, Kevin Yates, Nancie Cassidy, Paresh Patel, Carrie McIntyre, Karen Moewe, Nat Zich, Michele Pollack
Members Absent: Bianca Williams, Tiffany Moore, Joe Harper, Amanda Odewaldt
Others Present: Mayor Don White
The meeting was called to order at 4:03 p.m.
Mayor White opened up the meeting with introductions from everyone, since there were some new faces around the table. The Mayor stated that he read over the ordinance regarding the structure of this M&T committee and that ordinance required certain representation on this committee and that is how each person was chosen. He proceeded to share his vision for the M & T committee and stated that some of the concerns people had 4 years ago they still have today which is the image of the City. Mayor would like to help change the image of Chillicothe through the work of this committee along with economic development growth in the City. The Mayor passed out a handout and went over it as it related to the strategic plan that was done under the former Mayor. He stated that there are things in that plan that we need to carry out. He also mentioned that a task force has been put together to help update the City's Website. He stressed that more links need to be put in place so that with just a click you can go from the City's website to the schools, chamber, park district etc. and that those sites should have a link back to ours. His first project he would like to work on is the signage on 4" Street. Over 8,000 cars pass by Plaza Drive daily, we need to have more attractive signage.
Director Parker announced the Downtown Thursdays are happening again this year and that the next one would be the Taste of Chillicothe and encouraged everyone to come out to show their support.
Meeting times were discussed and the consensus was to have the meetings on the first Wednesday of every month at 3:30 p.m.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 4:33 p.m.
