Darin LaHood, U.S. Congressman representing Illinois’ 16th district since 2015, recently highlighted legislative efforts and state policy issues in a series of posts on social media.
On July 14, LaHood described a new legislative initiative, stating: "The One Big Beautiful Bill is one of the most pro-family pieces of legislation in history. Congressional Republicans and the Trump Administration delivered the largest increase in take home pay and extended the child tax credit to support families across #IL16 and the country."
Two days later, on July 16, he addressed border security measures: "Once again, border crossings are at record lows. The One Big Beautiful Bill only builds on this momentum! @HouseGOP and @POTUS are committed to supporting border patrol agents, stopping the flow of drugs, and protecting our communities."
Later that same day, LaHood criticized Illinois Governor JB Pritzker’s fiscal approach regarding immigration expenses: "JB Pritzker’s solution to cover the $2.5 billion spent on illegal immigrants in our state? LaHood has served as a congressional representative for Illinois’s 16th District since succeeding Aaron Schock in 2015. Born in Peoria in 1968, LaHood resides there today. He holds a BA from Loras College and a JD from John Marshall Law School in Chicago.
