Astoria Fire Protection District responded to 10 calls in 2017 - 61.5 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Astoria included eight fires - five structure fires, one vehicle fire and two other fires. The fire department also responded to one call for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $200,000 in fire loss - or about $25,000 per fire.

The department also received one false call.

The Astoria Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $165,966 in 2017.
