City of Marquette Heights Council met Sept. 10.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

PLEDGE

The City Council meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Crum.

CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the City Council was called to order at 7:01 P.M. by Mayor Crum.

ROLL CALL

The following Aldermen were present for Roll Call: Alderman Conlin, Worent, Neuhaus, Neumann, Little, and Bradford.

Also present: Treasurer Babb, Clerk Steele, Public Works Director Ghidina, Sgt. Merritt, Fire Chief Fortier, Office Manager Minson, and Attorney Herman.

Absent: Police Chief Elliott

PRESENTATION OF JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS

Alderman Little made a motion, seconded by Alderman Bradford to approve the regular minutes of August 27, 2018. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Little, Bradford, Neumann, and Neuhaus, and Conlin. Alderman Worent abstained. Nays- None. Motion passed.

Alderman Neumann made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus to approve the executive minutes of August 27, 2018. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Neumann, Neuhaus, Conlin, Bradford, and Little. Nays- None. Motion passed. Alderman Worent abstained.

REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS

Mayor

Mayor Crum will proclaim September as National Suicide Prevention awareness month.

Mayor Crum will appoint Alderman Bradford as Mayor Pro-Tem during any temporary absence of the Mayor from time to time. In the case of an extended absence or disability of the Mayor, an election and vote of the City shall occur.

Clerk

No report from Clerk Steele.

Treasurer

No report from Treasurer Babb.

Attorney

No report from Attorney Herman.

Communications

None.

CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL:

REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:

Water and Sewer – Alderman Bradford

Camera work on LaSalle is scheduled for tomorrow, and Joliet Road for Thursday.

Law Enforcement – Alderman Neumann

No report.

Streets – Alderman Neuhaus

No report.

Public Buildings / Parks -Alderman Conlin

All is okay for the sign at the Frisbee golf course.

Fire – Alderman Little

Pekin Park District has sent us their liability insurance information. Our risk management insurance is satisfied with the information provided. An invoice has been submitted to Pekin Park District for a pro-rated amount of $200.00. The next invoice in May, 2019 will be for the full yearly amount of $300.00.

Reminder that September 15th is garage sales and annual Fire Department cookout.

A safety trail has been mapped at the Spook Hollow trail for the fire and police departments.

Planning – Alderman Worent

The ordinance regarding the available lots for sale will be prepared by Attorney Herman. Signs are being printed. The Planning commission is still short on members.

NEW BUSINESS

APPROVE Proclamation

Alderman Worent made a motion, seconded by Alderman Braford to proclaim the month of September 2018 as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in the City of Marquette Heights. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Worent, Bradford, Neuhaus, Conlin, Neuhaus, and Little. Nays: None. Motion passed.

APPROVE payment to Dillon Inc.

Alderman Bradford made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neumann to approve a payment not to exceed $1,020.00 to Dillon Inc. for valve repair at the water plant. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Bradford, Neumann, Little, Worent, Neuhaus, and Conlin. Nays: None. Motion passed.

APPROVE payment to Rocky Top

Alderman Bradford made a motion, seconded by Alderman Worent to approve a payment not to exceed $1,450.00 to Rocky Top to replace door at Pontiac Lift Station. Roll Call Vote: Ayes- Alderman Bradford, Worent, Conlin, Neumann, Little, and Neuhaus. Nays - None. Motion passed.

APPROVE Harris payment

Alderman Bradford made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus to approve Harris Computer Systems payments of $1,080.72 from Water/Sewr and $1,815.28 from Admin for MSI computer maintenance from Nov. 2018 to Oct. 2019. Total bill: $2,896.00. Roll Call Votes: Ayes-Alderman Bradford, Neuhaus, Conlin, Neumann, Little, and Worent. Nays - None. Motion passed.

FINANCE – ALDERMAN WORENT

Alderman Worent made a motion, seconded by Alderman Neuhaus to approve paying bills: General Fund: $51,920.21, Water: $28,070.25, Sewer: $43,902.76, Water Replacement: $1,020.00, Motor Fuel: $.00, Audit Fund: $5,000.00, Wheel Tax: $52.56, IMRF: $1,712.99, and Social Security: $1,825.95. Roll Call Vote: Ayes – Alderman Worent, Neuhaus, Bradford, Little, Conlin, and Neumann. Nays – None. Motion passed.

CITIZENS WISHING TO ADDRESS THE COUNCIL

Men’s Club let council know they will be using the big sign and that it will be at the backstop on Diamond one during Spook Hollow.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS PERTAINING TO THE CITY

None.

ADJOURNMENT

Alderman Bradford made a motion, seconded by Alderman Little to adjourn the regular City Council meeting at 7:20 p.m. Voice Vote: All Ayes. Motion passed.
