City of East Peoria issued the following announcement on Dec. 18.
Residents and businesses who receive City of East Peoria water service need to fill out and submit the 2018 cross-connection control survey, mandated by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency. The survey, issued by the East Peoria Public Works Department, is used to determine whether a residence or business has an unprotected or improper water connection which could result in contamination or pollution entering the public water system.
The survey is available at http://www.cityofeastpeoria.com/294/Cross-Connection-Control-Survey. It needs to be completed by Jan. 17. The IEPA mandates that every customer served by the city’s water system be surveyed. Those who use private or community wells do not need to complete a survey. East Peorians served by North Tazewell Water District will receive a survey from that utility and do not need to fill out the city’s survey.
The brief survey can be completed in two minutes or less and asks if the property has a lawn irrigation system, fire sprinkler system, boiler for heat, equipment with chemicals that is connected to city water, and if there is equipment other than household appliances using water. Submitted surveys will be reviewed to determine if an inspection of the plumbing is needed.
