City of East Peoria issued the following announcement on Sept. 19.
Pavement striping on Main Street (Illinois 29/116/U.S. 24/150) between East Flora Lane (near Mutual Wheel) and Camp Street in East Peoria begins at 6 p.m. today, Wednesday, Sept. 18.
The striping will require lane closures in both directions, and there will be two through lanes in each direction upon completion.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.
