With many businesses and workers across the country seeing hard times and drops in profits due to stay-at-home orders, some are still using their skills and resources to help during the pandemic. Sheri Zalar is one of those people.

Zalar, who now runs her own quilting business out of her Germantown Hills home, began making masks after her daughter who works as an emergency room nurse told her about the shortage of face masks, according to PJStar.com.

In just a few days, Zalar made nearly 100 masks for her daughter and her co-workers and a relative in Ohio.

As the orders continued to pour in, Zalar decided to upload a video tutorial teaching people how to make their own masks to her Facebook page.

:If I can show five people how to make 100 masks of their own, then we are really starting to accomplish something,” Zalar told PJStar.com.

Zalar’s business, Sheri’s Quilts, designs quilts for customers, following the design and material preferences of her customers.
