City of Peoria Firemen's Pension Fund Board of Trustees met Jan. 9.

A Special Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Firemen's Pension Fund of Peoria, Illinois, was held this date at City Hall, Room 404, 419 Fulton Street, Peoria, Illinois, at 9:00 A.M. with proper notice having been given, for the purpose of conducting Firemen's Pension Fund business.

ROLL CALL

Roll Call of the following members: Ball, Nichting, Smith, Tomblin, President Troglio - 5.

Others present: Attorney Rick Reimer of Reimer & Dobrovolny on behalf of the Peoria Firemen's Pension Fund; Attorney Robert Bach on behalf of the Applicant Aldo G. Scott; Applicant Aldo G. Scott; Chief Deputy City Clerk Stefanie Tarr; and Court Reporter Cindy M. Scribner of Advantage Reporting Service.

INVOCATION

A moment of silence was held in remembrance of those Firefighters who have served our community.

REGULAR BUSINESS

PUBLIC HEARING to Discuss and Consider an APPLICATION for DISABILITY - LINE OF DUTY and an APPLICATION FOR DISABILlTY- OCCUPATIONAL DISEASE for BATTALION CHIEF ALDO G. SCOTT to become Effective the Day after the Last Day Paid by the City of Peoria Based on his Salary (including 8% longevity), which will be Determined Following a Final Vote by the Board, and with a Request to Issue a Check for the Appropriate Amount After the Meeting, and with a Request to Receive and File the Letter to Deduct Monthly Insurance Premiums form his Monthly Benefit Check at the Appropriate Time. Recommendation: Board to Take Action as Deemed Appropriate.

Trustee Nichting moved to appoint Attorney Rick Reimer as Hearing Officer for the Public Hearing concerning the Application for Disability - Line of Duty and Application for Disability - Occupational Disease for Battalion Chief Aldo G. Scott; seconded by Trustee Smith.

Approved by viva voce vote.

A Court Reporter was retained and recorded the business of the Board and is deemed the official record of the Fund's business during this meeting

At the conclusion of the evidence and oral arguments, President Troglio moved to go into Executive Session pursuant to 2(c)(4) to discuss evidence or testimony presented in open hearing, or in closed hearing where specifically authorized by law, to a quasi-adjudicative body, as defined in this Act, provided that the body prepares and makes available for public inspection a written decision setting forth its determinative reasoning; seconded by Trustee Tomblin.

Approved by roll call vote.

Yeas: Ball, Nichting, Smith, Tomblin, President Troglio - 5; 

Nays: None.

The Board adjourned into Executive Session at 10:45 AM. 

RECONVENING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

The Board Meeting reconvened at 11:40 AM. Roll Call showed the following Board Members physically present: Ball, Nichting, Smith, Tomblin, PresidentTroglio- 5. Absent: None.

Others present: Attorney Rick Reimer of Reimer & Dobrovolny on behalf of the Peoria Firemen's Pension Fund; Applicant Aldo G. Scott; Chief Deputy City Clerk Stefanie Tarr; and Court Reporter Cindy M. Scribner of Advantage Reporting Service.

Trustee Tomblin moved to grant the Application for Disability - Occupational Disease Disability for Battalion Chief Aldo G. Scott pursuant to 40 ILCS 5/4-110; seconded by Trustee Smith.

Approved by roll call vote.

Yeas: Ball, Nichting, Smith, Tomblin, President Troglio- 5; 

Nays: None.

Attorney Reimer said the final decision and order would be voted upon and approved at a properly noticed public meeting of the Peoria Firemen's Pension Fund.

Trustee Nichting moved to authorize the Court Reporter to prepare an official transcript of the proceedings; seconded by Trustee Smith.

Approved by roll call vote.

Yeas: Ball, Nichting, Smith, Tomblin, President Troglio- 5; 

Nays: None.

President Troglio moved to recess the Special Firemen's Pension Board Meeting until 1:00 P.M.; seconded by Trustee Tomblin.

Approved by viva voce vote. The meeting recessed at 11:45 AM.
