A new Tractor Supply store is set to open in the Village of Dwight, highlighting the region's move into Phase 4 of Gov. J.B. Pritzker's reopening plan.
According the website of state Rep. Tom Bennett (R-Gibson City), Illinois businesses have made a lot of progress since the shutdown began in March.
"Many child care centers are back open in some capacity," Bennett wrote. "Restaurants have re-opened for outdoor service in addition to curbside and carry-out. State parks, golf courses, drive-in theaters and some other businesses have been able to re-open with social distancing guidelines."
Bennett wrote that the progress everyone has made is just the beginning.
"We still have a long way to go, but we are moving in the right direction," Bennett wrote.
With Phase 4, restaurants are able to open with a limited capacity and other procedures in place, as well as gatherings of less than 50 people are permitted. There are also measures in Phase 4 that will make it possible for schools and other child care programs to open up.
Bennett also congratulated Dwight and the Dwight Economic Alliance for the new Tractor Supply store that is set to open.
"I was very happy to learn that the company had chosen to make an investment in our area, especially with all the challenges we are currently facing due to the pandemic," Bennett wrote. "It shows the true resilience of our communities."
Bennett wrote that the retailer would be converting the former Shopko location to open this fall.
