Peoria Public School's campus safety director receives national recognition

Peoria Public School Director of Campus Safety Demario Boone has been named the 2020 Campus Safety Director of the Year for the work the he is doing to keep students as safe as possible. 

Campus Safety Magazine recognized Boone for establishing "Lights on Peoria," a program designed to give life skills to students and give them a safe place to be on weekends, Central Illinois Proud reported. The program offers games, food and other educational experiences at Manual Academy and Peoria High School.

Boone won the award for the K-12 category. 

Campus Safety Magazine serves IT personnel, campus police chiefs, hospitals, universities, emergency managers, security directors and executive administrators.
