Illinois State Senate District 53 issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.
Noting his support for Illinois businesses and pro-growth economic policies, the Illinois Chamber of Commerce has named State Senator Jason Barickman (R-Bloomington) as a “Champion of Free Enterprise.”
"Before I take a vote on legislation, I try to keep in mind the impact it will have on our local businesses, because the success of those enterprises is what creates jobs and grows our economy," said Barickman. "I believe if we want our state to succeed, we have to improve our business climate. It's an honor to be recognized for supporting that goal."
The chamber’s “Champion of Free Enterprise” awards are based on the voting records of lawmakers on business and job related bills in the Illinois General Assembly. Barickman received a score of 100%, one of only 4 members of the Senate to receive a perfect score.
“Sen. Barickman is one of the hardest working members of the Illinois Senate,” said Illinois Chamber President and CEO Todd Maisch. “The business community is thankful he is working for us, as shown by his 100 percent rating. He has not just supported, but sponsored several key Chamber initiatives including BIPA and lawsuit reform and a number of tech initiatives that are so vital to growing the industry here in Illinois. We are thankful for his leadership and collaboration and are honored to bestow him this award.”
