Lacon-Sparland Fire Protection District responded to 31 calls in 2018 - 10.7 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Lacon-Sparland included 25 fires - 16 structure fires, one vehicle fire and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $180,500 in fire loss - or about $7,220 per fire.

The department also received six false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Lacon-Sparland Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $487,810 in 2018.
