Astoria Fire Protection District responded to 15 calls in 2018 - 7.1 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Astoria included 10 fires - five structure fires, two vehicle fires and three other fires.

In all, the department saw $81,500 in fire loss - or about $8,150 per fire.

The department also received five false calls, including two malicious calls and three other false calls.

The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related death.

The Astoria Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $64,619 in 2018.
