Village of Swansea Park Board met Sept. 12.

President Mike opened meeting with Pledge of Allegiance at 7:03am, followed by discussion of Agenda Items. Approval of Minutes: Motion to approve 8 August minutes made by Rose, second by Barb. Motion approved. Spooktacular: Due to limitations imposed by the coronavirus, this year’s Halloween event is cancelled.
Discussion of Clinton Hills: Mike presented Matt’s suggestions for activities at the park. Mayor Leopold was extremely impressed with the presentation and very enthusiastic about implementing these activities as time allows.
Golf Proposal – Mike met with several individuals involved with disc golf tournaments. Clinton Hills site is state-of-art quality and professional tournaments have been played. Fletchers has a disc golf pro shop.
Santa House: Mike met with the Belleville Santa House committee. Belleville Santa will greet the children at a location large enough to provide enough room for social distancing and wearing masks will be mandatory. Mike proposed using the Thompson Bldg as our Santa House this year. Mike B. offered his help in promoting our Santa House experience.
Matt suggested getting Wi-Fi to speed up the ‘photo pick-to-print process’. New equipment would be necessary. Funds pledged from last year may be available.
Santa will be available Nov 29 to Dec 23; hours, Sat & Sun 1-5 pm, Mon-Fri 6-8pm. All members present agreed to help with bringing decorations to Thompson Bldg and getting set up on Sun, Nov 22. Make certain tape used to measure safe distance can be easily removed. Motion to move Santa to Thompson Bldg this year made by Diane, 2nd by Rose. Motion approved.
Other Committee Reports: None. New Business: None.
Unfinished Business: David asked when memorial benches and fountains would be installed. In process of plotting new and checking existing electric lines to eliminate interference.
Public Comment: None.
General Discussion: Heartland Conservancy in process of building their outdoor classroom. There being no further business, motion to adjourn by Barb, second by Matt at 7:50 am.
