Nonstop service from Sarasota and Denver will be offered at the General Wayne A. Downing Peoria International Airport in May.

The service will begin in May and go throughout the summer season, a press release on the Peoria Area Chamber website said

The airport will also add nine more locations being flown with Allegiant.

"We are proud and honored by the confidence that Allegiant has shown in the Peoria market by announcing these two new destinations," Gene Olson, director of airports for Metropolitan Airport Authority of Peoria, said in a release on the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce website. "Central Illinois travelers have always supported service opportunities to Florida, and with the new connection to Colorado, we will have two exciting destinations to add to the portfolio."

These locations will give passengers at the airport more leisure destinations.

"The Sarasota flight will start on May 27 and run Thursday and Sunday, with Denver starting May 28 flying Friday and Monday," the release said. "These flights will continue to give Central Illinois residents additional connections to beautiful beaches and now majestic mountains and trails and breathtaking scenery."
