State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) said that Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s proposed FY2022 budget is an imaginative plan that does not fit reality.

“The governor has proposed a fantasy budget that relies on gimmicks and the same wishful thinking that we’ve seen in the past,” Stoller said.

Stoller points out that the governor should base his budget on real state revenue.

“It shows again how out of touch the governor is with everyday people and businesses that have to balance their own budgets using real revenue,” he continued. “The governor’s budget is $1.7 billion out-of-balance and ignores the constitutional requirement to balance the budget using existing revenue."

Instead of resolving the state’s financial challenges, the governor, Stoller said, keeps on presenting failed strategies and flouts Illinoisans and the real problems the state is facing. Pritzker closes his eyes on struggling businesses who need tax reliefs, and families relying on pensions, and has instead placed more burden on their shoulders, Stoller said.

“It increases taxes, it increases spending and includes no reforms, and no vision, and no plan to actually fix our state. And sadly, it completely ignores our pension crisis.”

“The governor has kicked the can down the road once again," Stoller said.
