Alderman Miller inquired as to taking down a tree which is located at the Methodist Church parsonage. The tree will at the minimum have to be trimmed a great deal before construction of the new water tower begins. The trees’ branches will be a problem during construction, the question posed is that it may be best to take the tree down entirely. The Council agreed it would probably be best to remove the tree entirely. Alderman Miller said the church is on board with removing the 75ft tall tree as well. Alderman Miller said the cost would be approximately $2300.00. The city will look into how much each party should pay for the tree removal and where the city’s portion of the cost will come from, the general fund or the water fund, since the tree removal is needed due to a water project. This will be voted on at a later time.
Mayor Lowe discussed the needed replacement of the a/c unit at the Civic Center. The old one was severely damaged by a vehicle running over it. The insurance company covering the vehicle has paid the city the money for the damage. The indoor repairs to the building have already been completed.
R21-12 Alderman Francis moved, seconded by Alderman Mason to approve replacing the damaged air conditioning unit located at the Civic Center.
