Veteran state Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Morris) is leading the push for safe Illinois roadways this fall season. The harvest season campaign urges drivers to be alert, patient and courteous.

“Its harvest season and that means long hours in the fields,” Tracy posted on Facebook. “Drivers please slow down and watch for farmers and their equipment."

In the video posted to Tracy’s page, farmers also called on motorists to be diligent in doing whatever it takes to keep things as safe as they can be.

“If you see farm equipment out, take it slow,” one farmer said. “Always look at what’s going on around you, and please don’t text and drive and keep eyes open.”

Another added, “Please give us a few moments to realize you’re behind us so we can make adjustments. Just remember that the person in the bigger machine, even though there’s a lot of great technology, we still have to look around."

First elected in the 47th District in 2016, Tracy sits on the Senate Agriculture, Criminal Law, Education, Ethics, Executive and Revenue committees, as well serving as the Republican spokesperson for the Judiciary Committee and Senate Environment and Conservation Committee, according to her site.
