State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) made it a point on Veteran’s Day earlier this month to show his respects to armed force members across the country.
“Today, we celebrate and give thanks for the brave men and women of our armed forces who answered the call to serve and defend our nation,” Stoller posted on Facebook. “Our country's veterans have fought and sacrificed to protect our freedoms. These Americans are the truest definition of heroes.”
Stoller has also recently made a vocal stand against what he sees as Democrats' partisan district maps. NW Illinois News previously reported that Stoller was among Illinois lawmakers who demanded that Gov. J.B. Pritzker veto the maps.
“By signing the maps today, the governor effectively ignored the will of the people,” he recently posted on Facebook. “He once again signed a map that allows the majority party to pick their voters, instead of allowing the people of Illinois to pick their legislators.”
Pritzker signed a second set of maps after the ones originally passed by the majority Democrat legislature drew lawsuits accusing unconstitutionality.
"It's not deja vu you're having,” Stoller said at the time. “Gov. Pritzker did sign politician-drawn legislative maps. He has now broken his promise to the people of Illinois twice.”
Stoller also recently opened a new office in Geneseo, Rock Island Today reported, on Sept. 14.
“I am beyond excited to establish this new district office in Geneseo,” he said in a release. “This office will allow my staff and I to provide the people within and surrounding Henry County with the best possible constituent services in the most convenient way for them.”
Stoller has also cosponsored a bill would make selling or giving a firearm to a convicted felon a Class X felony and would carry a prison sentence of up to 30 years.
