Meetingroom04

City of Minonk Public Works Committee met Oct. 28.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

CALL TO ORDER: The meeting of the Minonk City Council Public Works Committee was held at City Hall and called to order by Chairman Trent Ruestman at 5:00 P.M.

ROLL CALL: Those in attendance: Alderwoman Julie McNamara, Alderman T. Ruestman Absent: Alderman T. Nix.

Also in Attendance, City Administrator Bill Moline Public Works employees Jake Anderson and Kaleb Garber.

REGULAR AGENDA:

Discussed the approved budgeted funds for the 6th Street lift station/Elm Court storm water drainage improvements. Estimate for 6th street lift station came in roughly $28,230 above what was approved for both the lift station and Elm Ct. improvements, so committee discussed approving the quote and using funds from the sewer fund to make up the difference. Chairman T. Ruestman will recommend to Council to move forward with this project.

Water tower inspection was done and from the findings, some minor preventative maintenance is needed to prevent costlier repairs later. Quotes were received and the low bid came in from Putnam County Painting Inc. for $15,800. Chairman T. Ruestman will make the recommendation to Council to move forward with this unbudgeted project using funds from the water fund.

Residential Water Meter/Software was discussed again since the current software acted up again for the second month in a row. Kaleb Garber mentioned he heard from another company who wants to give a presentation on their system, so a meeting is being set up to hear what they have to say.

Alderwoman J. McNamara brought up grant information related to downtown and infrastructure improvements. More will be presented during the Council meeting and committee members will be needed to help discuss and plan out projects.

Committee discussed putting together a plan to start replacing the sewer line that runs in the alley behind City Hall from 1st street to the sewer plant. Will be part of the 5-year comprehensive plan.
