Village of Deer Creek Village Board met Nov. 16.
Here are the minutes provided by the board:
Village President Pro Tem Grant Hackney called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
I.) ROLL CALL
Present: Trustees Judy Cremeens, Mary Eschelbach, Grant Hackney, Ross Kraemer, Stefanie Lee Berardi, Jake Smith
Absent:
Also Present: Chief Potts, PWS Gordon Robertson, Jeff Rogers, Attorney Pat McGrath, Auditor Michael Remmele, Clerk Lori Lewis
II.) APPROVAL OF CONSENT AGENDA
Trustee Smith moved, and Trustee Kraemer seconded the motion to approve the Consent Agenda as presented.
On roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 6 – Cremeens, Eschelbach, Hackney, Kraemer, Lee Berardi, Smith
Nays: 0 – None. There being six affirmative votes…Motion Carried
III.) PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
IV.) REPORTS
A. Public Works Department – Concrete is in the process of being poured at the splash pad.
B. Planning/Zoning Board of Appeals – None.
C. Police Chief – Monthly report was presented.
D. Engineer – None.
E. Attorney – None.
V.) OLD BUSINESS
The decision regarding the creation of a second full-time police officer position is carried over to a later date. The police committee has scheduled a meeting in two weeks to further discuss funding.
VI.) NEW BUSINESS
Michael Remmele, Ginoli & Company, presented the audit for review and approval. Trustee Cremeens moved, and Trustee Smith seconded the motion to accept the audit as presented.
On roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 6 – Cremeens, Eschelbach, Hackney, Kraemer, Lee Berardi, Smith
Nays: 0 – None. There being six affirmative votes…Motion Carried
Trustee Hackney moved, and Trustee Cremeens seconded the motion to approve the Class “A”, Class “B”, and video gaming license applications for K&M Village Tap for a term of one year beginning November 1, 2021, and expiring October 31, 2022, as recommended by the police chief and liquor commissioner.
On roll call the vote was:
Ayes: 6 – Cremeens, Eschelbach, Hackney, Kraemer, Lee Berardi, Smith
Nays: 0 – None. There being six affirmative votes…Motion Carried
It is the recommendation of the village board to set the 2022 tax levy at $143,750.00, which is just under the allowable 5% increase. The ordinance will be presented in December.
VII.) CALENDAR ITEMS
Committee Meetings December 20 6:00 p.m. at village hall Regular Village Board December 21 7:00 p.m. at village hall Breakfast with Santa December 11 9 to 11 a.m. at community center
Trustee Lee Berardi expressed her concerns to the board regarding the Breakfast with Santa and unmasked families attending the event.
VIII.) ADJOURNMENT:
There being no further business to conduct, Trustee Smith moved, and Trustee Cremeens seconded the motion to adjourn.
The board unanimously approved the motion by voice vote and the meeting adjourned at 7:19 pm.
