Illinois state Rep. Ryan Spain (R-Peoria) recently announced that he has received a new endorsement from the Illinois Health Care Association (IHCA).
"Illinois Health Care Association endorsed candidates and officeholders committed to promoting and protecting the long-term care profession while helping advocate for the many residents in long-term care homes," he said in a Sept. 30 Facebook post. "I am proud to have their endorsement and support!"
In 1950, the Illinois Health Care Association was founded with 13 board members, its website said. It now consists of over 500 licensed and certified long-term-care facilities and homes/programs for the developmentally disabled throughout the state.
Spain has received other endorsements as well, including from the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police.
"Thank you to the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police for their support and endorsement in the General Election," he said in an Aug. 15 Facebook post, quoted by the Illinois Valley Times. "Crime continues to spiral in Illinois while law enforcement recruitment suffers because of the misguided 'anything but' SAFE-T Act. Our top priority must be making Illinois a safe and affordable place to live. #RepealHB3653 #BackTheBlue #ILFOPendorsed."
Spain announced his reelection campaign in January. Since then, he has been campaigning heavily against his new opponent.
