Right now, the 46th district and central Illinois are no better off than when my opponent Senator Dave Koehler entered politics over 40 years ago.
A recent interview began with background on Senator Koehler and how he has been the incumbent since 2006 as he is running for his sixth term in the Senate. What has he done to improve the lives of his constituents since then? Crime is out of control, families cannot afford basic necessities, businesses are leaving Illinois, dangerous legislation is being passed, and Democratic lawmakers are turning their backs on our law enforcement.
Senator Koehler stated that people “want safe communities and lower taxes”, then goes on to say you “cannot call something a priority if you’re not willing to fund it.” Senator Koehler cannot claim safety and lower taxes to be a priority when he adamantly supports legislation such as the SAFE-T Act, which simultaneously will increase crime and taxes of working Illinoisans due to unfunded state mandates.
The stakes of this election could not be higher, as Senator Koehler seeks to coast through another term while listening to what the city of Chicago wants instead of his own constituents and neighbors here in the 46th district.
I am a small business owner and a mother with a diverse voice that is ready to bring positive change to our communities. I have heard from single parents that have to decide between putting food on the table for their children or filling up their car with a tank of gas so they can get to and from work. I am running for my child and all future generations that come after us so they can live a prosperous and safe life in an area that supports our police, lowers taxes, brings business to Illinois, and allows working families to keep their hard-earned money.
It is time for change here in the 46th district and I have the experience and motivation to bring those changes to fruition.
