The Bradley Braves Soccer team shocked the Missouri Valley Conference on Sunday when they upset the second-seeded Drake Bulldogs in the opening round of the MVC Conference Tournament.
For the second time this season, the Bradley Braves beat the Drake Bulldogs but this time, extending the season for the Braves.
After a scoreless first half, it was the Braves who got on the board first with a goal from Jack Douglas at 49:04. Anthony Calleri added on insurance for Bradley with a goal at 61:35 to give the Braves a 2-0 lead.
Drake added their first goal at 79:45 but it was not enough to come back against the Braves. Goalkeeper Drew Berry made four saves on the day in the win.
Bradley's win is the second time in MVC Tournament history that a seven-seed has won a match, the first since Drake won over Valparaiso in 2017.
This will be the 22nd semifinal appearance for the Braves and the third time in the last three seasons.
What's Coming Up?
With the win on Sunday, the Braves advance to the semifinals and will take on the Missouri State Bears on Thursday evening. Bradley will travel to Springfield, Missouri for their match against the Bears.
A win for the Braves would give them their 10th title appearance in program history.
