City of Minonk Public Safety Committee met Feb. 16.

CALL TO ORDER: The February 16, 2023, meeting of the Minonk City Council Public Safety Committee was held at City Hall and called to order by Chairman Russell Ruestman at 6:40 P.M.
ROLL CALL: Those in attendance: Alderwoman Julie McNamara, Alderman R. Ruestman and Jonathan Stears.
Also in Attendance: City Administrator Bill Moline
REGULAR AGENDA:
Discuss 2022-23 Ambulance budget YTD
∙ ESDA asking for $1,300 to purchase 50 more cots and a table.
∙ Ambulance – New ambulance coming soon and will need to transfer funds to pay for. Discussion had to have a meeting with the MFD once Budget approved to discuss future Ambulance needs and how to sustain department as it is structured currently.
∙ Ambulance – Chief Goodrich requesting we start putting away funds for auto load cart - $50,000 needed. Need to decide where funding will come from?
Discuss Current Woodford County Sheriff’s Department:
∙ Discussed making sure the Deputies are getting out in the public, stopping at the Schools and Parks etc. Bill informed committee that he has discussed this with the Sheriff’s Department. ∙ Current contract will be over after the 22-23 FY budget. New contract increase is less than 1% Roughly $5,000).
Discuss Current Code Enforcement Plan:
∙ Discussed current set up, timing, Part time Code Enforcement doing more of the paperwork and working with the City Administrator and Deputies more. Need to have Deputies doing more to point out violations and reporting them so documentation can take place. Need more working together between all parties so violations can be addressed.
