Washington, D.C. - The Congressional Soccer Caucus and members of Congress have announced their plans to introduce a bipartisan resolution in support of the United States Soccer Federation's bid for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup. The resolution, which will be introduced in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, aims to highlight the New Heights Bid Committee's efforts to bring the tournament to the United States and Mexico.

The co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, along with several representatives and senators, are leading the resolution. In a joint statement, they emphasized the potential positive impact of hosting the Women's World Cup, stating, "Women's soccer is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and no country is better positioned to showcase the sport than the United States." They also highlighted that hosting the tournament would break attendance records, generate economic growth and tourism, and further develop women's soccer and youth sports in the country.

U.S. Soccer Federation President Cindy Parlow Cone expressed gratitude for the support from Congress, stating, "We are incredibly thankful for the support from Congress for the U.S. Soccer's New Heights Bid to bring the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup to the United States and Mexico." Cone also emphasized the financial success that hosting the tournament could bring and its potential impact on women's soccer globally. She added, "Our vision is to have the proceeds garnered from the tournament thoughtfully distributed to every Federation, thus propelling the advancement of the women's game and fostering a sustained impact on the growth and development of women's soccer."

Soccer is a popular sport both globally and in the United States, and the women's game has seen significant growth in recent years. The United States Women's National Team (USWNT) is the most successful women's national team in the world, having won four Women's World Cups. The United States has previously hosted the Women's World Cup in 1999 and 2003, which were considered successful events that increased interest in women's soccer across North America.

The Congressional Soccer Caucus is an organization consisting of members of Congress who aim to promote and raise awareness about sports issues. The Caucus focuses on both domestic and international matters related to sports, including soccer. They organize various briefings and events to highlight how sports, like soccer, can transform communities and help children reach their full potential.

This resolution follows a previous resolution in 2018, in which the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate expressed their support for the U.S. Soccer Federation's successful bid for the 2026 FIFA Men's World Cup, which will be hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

With the introduction of this bipartisan resolution, the Congressional Soccer Caucus and other members of Congress are showing their commitment to supporting U.S. Soccer's bid for the 2027 Women's World Cup. Their efforts aim to bring the largest women's sporting event in history to the United States and Mexico, fostering international goodwill and inspiring young players worldwide.
