The Department of Public Works is closely monitoring the Illinois River as it prepares for potential flooding. As of today, Wednesday, January 31, the forecasted crest levels remain at 22 feet. The river is expected to reach its peak tomorrow afternoon and into the morning of Friday, February 2.According to the Department, "At 22.7 feet, flooding begins in low-lying areas in Riverfront Park."
