The Peoria City/County Joint Commission on Racial Justice and Equity (RJE) has announced that they will be hosting a Community Engagement Forum on Tuesday, February 6, 2024. The forum will take place from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the East Bluff Community Center in Peoria, Illinois. All residents of Peoria County, including individuals, families, and representatives of neighborhood associations, places of worship, and other community organizations, are invited to attend.

This forum will be the second of its kind organized by the RJE Commission, following a successful event held last November at Neighborhood House. The purpose of these forums is to provide an opportunity for the public to share their stories and concerns regarding racial justice and equity in the community. The RJE Commission has identified eight areas of focus: Child & Youth Development, Economic Development & Jobs, Environment & Climate, Health & Human Services, Quality Housing, Information Technology, Justice, and Transportation & Mobility.

During the forum, RJE Commission members and partners will be present to listen to the community and gather feedback. This feedback will be used to inform strategic plans and partnerships that aim to advance racial justice and equity in Peoria. The ultimate goal is to create a more livable and equitable community for all residents.

The Commission encourages all members of the community to participate in this important event. By attending and sharing their experiences and concerns, residents can actively contribute to the ongoing efforts to achieve racial justice and equity in Peoria.

To participate in the Community Engagement Forum on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, simply visit the East Bluff Community Center located at 512 E. Kansas St., Peoria. The forum will begin at 5:30 p.m. and conclude at 7:00 p.m. For more information, individuals can email racialjustice@peoriacounty.gov.

In the words of the RJE Commission, "We look forward to hearing from the community and working together to create a more just and equitable Peoria."
