Peoria residents are advised to mark their calendars for the upcoming resumption of city-wide yard waste collection on Monday, March 18. This annual service allows residents to dispose of various yard waste materials conveniently.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for the collection by organizing their yard clean-up projects. Unbundled materials should be placed in residents' own containers to ensure a smooth collection process. The City of Peoria emphasizes the importance of using separate containers for yard waste to protect the longevity of the city's carts designated for recycling and garbage.
To facilitate the collection process, residents are advised to utilize plastic or metal garbage cans with specific requirements, including sizes between 40 and 45 gallons, two handles, and a tight-fitting lid. Alternatively, wheeled carts of 65 or 95 gallons are also deemed acceptable for yard waste disposal. To streamline the identification process, individuals are urged to affix "Yard Waste Only" stickers on their designated containers, which can be obtained at various locations including City Hall, Public Works, or any GFL location.
The yard waste collection initiative is set to run until December 13, providing residents with ample opportunities to dispose of grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and brush in an environmentally friendly manner.
