Peoria County, Illinois, has announced that several of its facilities will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 27, 2024. The list of closures includes the Peoria County Courthouse, Veterans Assistance Commission, Election Commission, Animal Protection Services (PCAPS), Highway Department offices, and Peoria City/County Health Department offices. These departments are scheduled to reopen on Tuesday, May 28.
Despite the closure on Monday, adoption hours at PCAPS on Saturday, May 25 will not be affected. Animal control officers can still be reached at 309-674-3131 during normal hours on the holiday.
While some facilities are closing for the holiday, others will remain operational. The Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, Jail, and Juvenile Detention Center will continue to function with staff present. However, records and in-person visitation will be closed. Inmates can still be visited remotely throughout the closure period and the bonding lobby will maintain its regular hours.
