Peoria's Red White & BOOM! event to cause street closures on July 4

Beginning at noon on Thursday, July 4, Downtown Peoria streets will be restricted due to the Red, White, & BOOM! fireworks display sponsored by Choose Greater Peoria and i3 Broadband. Drivers are advised to exercise caution and patience throughout the day and evening. The use of alternative routes is recommended, and delays should be expected.

At 9 am, the Liberty Street Riverfront parking lot and the parking lot adjacent to Martini’s on Water will be closed. The Caterpillar parking lot at Washington Street and Hamilton Boulevard will be available only for VIP event permit holders and persons with disabilities.

Starting at noon, several roads will be closed, and parking restrictions will go into effect:

- Water Street will be closed from State Street to Eaton Street.

- Walnut Street will be closed between Washington Street and Water Street.

- Harrison Street will be closed between Washington Street and Water Street.

- Liberty Street will be closed between Washington Street and Water Street.

- Main Street will be closed between Washington Street and Water Street.

- Hamilton Boulevard will be closed between Washington Street and Water Street.

During this time, the only traffic allowed in these areas will include vendors, exhibitors, 401 Water Street property owners, and Ameren employees. Vendors must present their permit to enter the Riverfront. Vendor entry and exit into the Riverfront will not be permitted after 4 pm.

At 8 pm, additional road closures with parking restrictions include:

- Liberty Street between Adams Street and Washington Street.

- Fulton Street between Adams Street and Washington Streets.

- Main Streets between Adams Streets and Washington Streets.

The Bob Michel Bridge will close to both pedestrian and vehicular traffic starting at 8:30 pm. At the same time, Interstate 74 exits 93, 94, and 95 will also close.
