Peoria opens city buildings as cooling stations during heatwaves

The city of Peoria has announced that its buildings are available as cooling stations during extreme heat periods. The Peoria Police Department lobby, located at 600 SW Adams Street, is open from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. All Peoria Fire Department stations are accessible daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. However, visitors may need to vacate fire stations if there is an active call.
