MacArthur Highway to close for reconstruction from Aug 5 to mid-December

Beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, N MacArthur Highway will be closed to all traffic between W 4th Street and W Moss Avenue. The closure is necessary for the MacArthur Highway – Martin Luther King Jr. Drive to Moss Avenue Reconstruction Project and is expected to last until mid-December, weather permitting.

Drivers should utilize all marked detour routes. Drivers should exercise caution in the area and be mindful of the road work. The use of alternative routes is advised.

Detour Routes

Northbound MacArthur Highway traffic should travel east on W John H Gwynn Jr. Avenue, north on N Richard Pryor Place, east on W Romeo B. Garrett Avenue, straight onto SW Monroe Street, and then north onto Main Street.

Southbound University Street traffic should travel east on Main Street, west on SW Monroe Street, straight on W Romeo B. Garrett Avenue, south on N Richard Pryor Place, and west on W John Gwynn Jr. Avenue.

Additional Road Closures

W Martin Luther King Jr. Drive will be closed to through traffic between W Romeo B. Garrett Avenue and N Richard Allen Drive.

N Richard Allen Drive will be closed to through traffic between W Romeo B. Garrett Avenue and N MacArthur Highway.
