FOIA Request Sent to City of El Paso Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of El Paso Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have submitted a request for records under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140). We are seeking information in electronic format regarding all parking violations currently unpaid within the jurisdiction of the City of El Paso.

The specifics of our request include obtaining a list that details the name of each offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when each violation occurred, and the total amount due overall.

As journalists committed to gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to our readership. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We look forward to collaborating with City officials in this endeavor and will keep you updated on any developments.
