FOIA Request Sent to City of Lewistown Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024

FOIA Request to City of Lewistown Regarding Unpaid Parking Violations on October 28, 2024.

In our ongoing efforts to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Lewistown. The request, sent on October 28, 2024, seeks records pertaining to all currently unpaid parking violations within the city's jurisdiction.

Specifically, we requested a list detailing each violation. This includes the name of the offender, their address, the amount due for each violation, the date when the violation occurred, and the total amount due from each individual.

As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, access to such public records is crucial for us. It enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include reporting factual information to our readers and holding public institutions accountable.

We believe that as media professionals engaged in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. We will continue with our efforts to bring light into local governmental affairs and ensure that citizens are informed about matters affecting their communities.

We await a response from the City of Lewistown regarding this request.
