FOIA Request to City of Delavan Regarding New and Active Residential and Commercial Building Permits on October 30, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at the Peoria Standard have sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the City of Delavan. The request was made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, 5 ILCS 140, with a preference for an electronic format response.
The records requested include a list of all new residential and commercial building permits issued from January 1, 2023 till the date of the request. We have asked for specific fields such as type of permit, date issued, fee paid, requester's name, address and contractor name.
In addition to this, we also requested a list of all active residential and commercial building permits along with their current status. The same fields as mentioned above were asked for these active permits as well.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. In light of our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
